The Public Affairs Section of the US Embassy sponsors two American Corners in Rwanda.
American Corners are partnerships with host-country institutions. The partner provides a physical space and staff, and the Public Diplomacy section provides multi-media materials about the United States, training and technical support. They provide accurate information about the U.S., including education and cultural programs; access to English language resources and connections to alumni.
Kigali – The American Corner Kigali is located on the lower ground floor level of the Adventist University of Central Africa (AUCA), Gishushu Campus. There patrons will find print material about the United States, American culture and history, study in the United States and different collections (Technology, Engineering, Economics and Entrepreneurship, English Learning, Health, Journalism…). The space comprises also a communication and media zone equipped with tablets, computers, headsets, software; an education advising corner, an English Laboratory, a technology hub and a reading space also used for programming. The Corner is open the same hours as the University.
Rubavu – The American Corner Rubavu opened since 2012 and is located on the campus of the University of Tourism Technology and Business Studies (UTB), Gisenyi, in the Western Province of Rwanda. The corner is equipped with a print collection, very attractive for lecturers, students, professionals and for young kids and parents. In addition, patrons have access to free Internet connection at the corner, access to electronic resources and to AC programming (Kids Programs, English language programs, Cultural, Alumni and speaker programs, Maker programs, Education advising sessions). The Corner is open Monday-Friday 8:00-12:00 and from 13:00-20:00. Closed on the weekends.
