The U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce that as of October 1, 2015, immigrant visa cases for residents of Rwanda will be processed from the Embassy in Kigali.
Beneficiaries of immigrant visa petitions and winners of the Diversity Visa Lottery who reside in Rwanda will no longer be required to travel to Nairobi for visa interviews and medical exams, but will be able to complete all requirements at Embassy Kigali and through the Embassy contracted panel physician in Kigali. In addition, beneficiaries interviewed in Kigali will have the option of requesting to be interviewed in Kinyarwanda or French, in addition to English.
Please note, individuals who have already attended or been scheduled to attend an interview prior to October 1, 2015, will need to continue their immigrant visa process with U.S. Embassy Nairobi. After October 1, 2015, Rwandans and those of other nationalities who are resident in Rwanda will automatically be scheduled for appointments at U.S. Embassy Kigali.
Please see the Department of State’s website for more information on the immigrant visa process in general, and the Immigrant Visas page on our website for more information about immigrant visa processing in Kigali.
