Rwanda was selected in 2019 to be one of only a few countries to pilot the White House’s new Women’s Global Development and Prosperity Initiative (W-GDP) training program called the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs program (AWE). Beginning in October 2019, 33 Rwandan women learned to grow their entrepreneurship skills to start or scale up their businesses, including an online business plan development course, mentorship and networking. Event better, six of our participants won prestigious U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF) seed funding — $25,000 each! — through the program’s capstone pitch competition.
